Hola/Bienvenido :)

Hello to all of you!

There were some technical glitches it seems, but I am so happy to finally be able to introduce myself as a member of the 2011 Newark TFA Corps!  At this point, I’m told I’ll be teaching Spanish, but that’s about all the information that I have.  Within the next few weeks I will be re-posting my “actual” journal entry that I wrote about the time I was admitted, because I think it’s important for me to get those raw emotions out into the larger world so I don’t lose them.

This website was a huge factor in deciding to apply to and ultimately accept the offer from Teach For America.  I appreciated the honest input and differing opinions and it’s largely a result of these words that I’m packing up and heading into Newark after graduation in the spring.  It’s therefore important to me to pay it forward, and I sincerely hope to be able to keep this blog up as I work through the challenges of my two year commitment.

So, I’ll re-post that journal entry, and then I’ll post sporadically to keep everyone updated in the lead-up to institute in the City.  I know I’ll be receiving a certain packet in the mail soon, and I’ll be taking some tests, and I’ll want to tell you ALL about it

Until then, just know that I’m excited for this opportunity, and the opportunity for conversation that this website presents!

   I’m also going to be joining the TFA Newark 2011 Corps as a Spanish teacher. Have you registered for/taken any of the required tests yet? I’m kinda nervous!

   Hola I teach Spanish at college level and I am a native speakers of Spanish. Maybe I could help with resources. We may share links, materials and so on.

     Gracias por la oferta, but I teach 6 and 7 year olds. I’m not sure what sorts of resources you’re thinking of, but I’m not sure they would be mutually beneficial!
